Zac (now Louis) came to us through a collaboration with Bissell Pet Foundation in 2021. He was heartworm positive but was still so loving and happy to meet anyone and everyone. His adopters sent us this update on how he is doing now:

I wanted to share an update on DDR alum Louis (previously Zac). His Gotcha Day is August 14th, so we’re coming up on one year together. It’s been an amazing one! Louis is now heartworm free and getting more and more confident every day. He loves snuggling on the couch, french fries, making new friends at the dog park, and sticking his butt up in the air when he wants some scratches!

Here are some pictures of Louis living his best life.

Detroit Dog Rescue

Detroit Dog Rescue is Detroit's first no-kill shelter. Founded in February 2011, DDR helps between 80 to 120 dogs at any given time. Our rescue is known for taking animals in trouble that most regard as unadoptable and investing the time and training needed to rehabilitate and re-home these dogs. Detroit Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and licensed by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and holds a Platinum Award of Transparency through GuideStar.
