Adventures of Downtown Dale

As expected, Dale has been amazing. He is so loving and gentle and just likes to be around us.

Living in the city has been an adjustment but we think he is starting to get more comfortable with the routine of taking the elevator and having to cross a street within a timeline other than his own speed (it took awhile to find the only food incentive that helps – chicken breast).

Once he has crossed the street, he is free to go at his own pace. We have worked him up to a block walk to the beach at Campus Martius where we rest before making the walk back home. Dale can go this a couple of time a day.

Dale gets nonstop love from many strangers on his daily journeys, and he has made friends with the local business owners. Unfortunately, we couldn’t accept the generous offer from Detroit One Coney Island of unlimited hot dogs which is right next door to our building. Maybe once he’s hit goal weight we can reconsider.

Below are some pictures from Dale’s first weekend in Detroit.

Detroit Dog Rescue

Detroit Dog Rescue is Detroit's first no-kill shelter. Founded in February 2011, DDR helps between 80 to 120 dogs at any given time. Our rescue is known for taking animals in trouble that most regard as unadoptable and investing the time and training needed to rehabilitate and re-home these dogs. Detroit Dog Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and licensed by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and holds a Platinum Award of Transparency through GuideStar.
