Want to volunteer for DDR?
Start out by telling us about yourself.
While we are limited on our need for daily volunteers on the streets, you can help us from your own home! Please help us share our story so Detroit may find help on a HUGE level! We are trying to do what we can on a small scale, while concentrating on bringing this story to the whole country along with a plea for help and for funding.
But there are tons of ways to help, and many can be done from in front of your computer!
-Reach out to national press outlets or talk shows, especially to those that have a “feel good” vibe like Ellen Degeneres, Oprah, Rachael Ray, CNN “Heroes,” Ladies Home Journal, etc.
-Know any property investors or real estate moguls? DDR needs a building for our no kill shelter in Detroit! We are a 501(c)3 non profit and your donation is tax deductible!
-Emails to the Mayor and/or City Council about our organization never hurt!
-We are looking for any connections to vets in the Detroit area that might be able to offer us discounts or donate their time at community outreach events.
-We always love people to submit Detroit Dog Rescue to entities that might be giving away money to non profit charities.
-We love to get involved with those who are running “like” contests on places like Facebook where the organization with the most "likes" receives a donation.
-We are gathering a network of foster homes, especially people who can take in dogs on the last minute in the Detroit area. Foster and adoption applications can be completed at www.detroitdogrescue.com
-We would love our story to be shared with nationwide pet-related organizations, such as Best Friends (they have a message board and forum where tons of people go)
-We are hoping to get connected to a celebrity who is an animal lover! Or to one who is from Detroit and wants to help us change this city.
-We are looking for people to share our original video (see link below) any way they can think of! Whether that’s sharing it at the office, sending to places like reddit.com or file sharing sites, or submitting it to local news channels (most now have a “got a tip for us?” link on their home pages)
-We are open to just about anything, as we are trying to tackle this issue on a large scale by getting the City on board with our efforts, but in the meantime it’s just one small step at a time.
If you did want to share the original video about how DDR got started, here’s the direct link again: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d-bxTO_Q-5k
We thank all of you for your interest in the homeless dogs of Detroit and for helping our efforts to save them! WE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
