Brutus spent over a decade as an outdoor dog in Detroit. With the help of our team his owners realized Brutus needed more, they realized that dogs deserve to be inside. We applaud his owners for making it an easy surrender and look forwarding to continuing to educate them on proper pet ownership.

Sadly, Brutus’ surrender is bittersweet. After intake and further testing we discovered Brutus has lymphoma. His prognosis isn’t perfect, he has good days and bad days, and we’ve explored options.

Right now we’re looking for a forever foster for Brutus. We’re looking for someone within 30 minutes of Detroit for easy access to medical appointments. We’re also looking for a home with no cats, no children under fifteen and preferably no dogs. Brutus may do well with one low energy dog, but this is Brutus’ time to rest and enjoy his bucket list.

Our forever foster program is dedicated to giving hospice dogs the care and dignity they deserve in their final months of life. As with our usual foster program, Detroit Dog Rescue will provide all of the dog’s food, medical care and supplies.
